My parents Alberto Coz and Tamara Llano from the Department of Chemistry and Process and Resources Engineering at the University of Cantabria, Spain, have been doing a workshop last Thursday, March 17, at the Colegio Rural Agrugado C.R.A. Peña Cabarga. A total of 13 students from 4th grade of primary school have participated in the workshop “How to take advantage of waste and evaluate pollution in rural areas in an innovative and creative way”.

The experiments
Tamara and Alberto gave a summary about me and all my strengths and partners from Europe and Latin America. Various experiments were carried out on waste generated in rural areas and domestic waste, and possible ways of valorising the formulated waste were proposed. Plastic degradation experiments were carried out in different solvents, and the pH of daily samples and waste streams was analysed.
