My Public Deliverables

Figure 1 shows the work packages I am composed of.

Work Package number 1

Here you can see my public deliverables of the work package number 1 about Biomass processing.

The aim of this WP is to transfer of knowledge about the novel and sustainable lignocellulosic processing to obtain cellulose pulp and fibres from biomass. In addition, energy production in rural areas obtained from the rest of the fractions (lignin, hemicellulose) is also studied. Within this WP, different characterisation methods will be studied, together with the development of novel and sustainable hydrolysis processes as pre-treatment and the production of biochar, fibres and energy. The work package has been divided into 3 deliverables, one of them related to the characterisation methods in lignocellulosic biomass, including all of the materials inventory (residues and additives), the physico-chemical methods recommended for the selected biomass and the scientific results of the fractions analysed in the project, including traditional and novel (HPLC and FTIR) methods; the second one is related to the results and recommendations of the pre-treatment used in the project, including traditional (acid, alkaline, steam explosion) to novel (deep eutectic solvents) processes; and the third one related to the scientific results in the final steps of the processes to give fibres, biochar, biofuels and energy, including novel and sustainable biocomposites, nanocellulose in health areas, high-quality biochar and second-generation biofuels using SSCF processes. An ecological SA binder fibreboard and a hydrolytic PSA-oxidation nanocellulose will be obtained in the project.

Deliverable 1.1. Recomendations about characterisation methods in lignocellulosic biomass:

Work Package number 2

Here you can see my public deliverables of the work package number 2 about the Social business model tools.

The following tools will be studied to make decisions about the best business models for cellulose-based products in SMEs and rural areas: artificial neural network models, Life Cycle Assessment, automisation, simulation and optimisation of the processes studied in WP1, together with stakeholders’ needs, smart territories and information management tools. Biochar, every-day products and cellulose-based products for health will be considered in addition to energy and fuels for SMEs and rural areas. The last task will be the preliminary design of portable pieces of equipment to be used in these areas. This WP will depend on the results obtained in WP1. The work package number 2 has been divided into 3 deliverables, one of them related to the recommendations about the business models and needs for the stakeholders found in the project; the second one related to the scientific results of the mathematical tools used in the project, including artificial neural network for hydrolysis processes, simulation and optimisation of the processing steps by Aspen and Multicriteria Analysis software, and LCA of the proposed business plans using SigmaPro; and the third one related to the results of the use of smart systems in the small biorefineries, including smart algorithms on machine learning and the design of a smart system with sensors, controls and devices for the biomass processing. The best business models in the SMEs (health and biocomposites sectors) and rural and vulnerable areas will be chosen taking into account the results of stakeholder needs, and the results of Life Cycle Assessment. Once business models have been selected, the main portable pieces of equipment for the pre-treatment of biomass will be preliminary designed taking into account the material and the main physical and mechanical properties.
